This certainly isnt clear. What makes the most sense? Point to game ratio, head to head results ? Unfortunate it isnt clear as I am sure there are many teams on the bubble uncertain on how this works.

I suppose they will use the criteria in the BCCSL rules for determining league champions...in bold below? But I'm only guessing.

At the end of the season, the U-13 to U-18 team with the highest number of points will be declared the League winner, unless a team(s) that has played fewer games could equal or exceed the points leader (number of fewer games played x 3 points). In this situation co-winners will be declared. The total number of games played before Thanksgiving are included no matter which League section they were in before that time.
Final Standings Please note that goal differential (goals for, goals against) is not used to calculate Final Standings.

what's unclear about it? top 8 teams that didn't win their district have a one-off match in a 1v8 so on and so forth match-up. Makes perfect sense. I gave an example of why that might suck if one team played more games than another thus finishing higher (possibly) and thus getting home field in this one-off game, but organizing it in the way they did makes sense. But ya, points:game ratio makes sense to me and would be more fair.

I have a crazy idea - balanced schedules! Play teams twice, divisions of 8 - 14 game league schedule. Everything is fair then - oh, wait, this would require proper grouping of teams rather than winging it and changing the schedules 2-3x during league play ;)

What!? That makes absolutely no sense. So a team that finishes 3 pts behind first, with 1 game less will be awarded a league winners medal??? Who is to say they will win the last game!? I remember one year my team was near the bottom and we played one of 3 teams competing for the league title on the last day. We beat them on the last day, and they were quite sad because they assumed they had lost the league. They were sitting first place. The other two teams were also playing bottom end teams so the assumption was at least 1 of them would win or draw. They both lost. The team we beat won the league! If this is true, and teams get awarded winners medals based on assumptions of victories we are absolutely positively hopeless. "you get a medal, and you get a medal, and you get a medal, everyone gets a medal!!"

Well, they need to have some method, don't they?

Without a balanced schedule, awarding points for games not played makes as much sense as doing a "strength of schedule" assessment....bah, I don't have the answers.

Agree 1000% that a balanced schedule would be the best. I nominate @TKBC as League Scheduler! ;):D:D:cool:

GOD help us. Everyone below Div 1 would be scheduled together... I'm kidding of course. LOL

If it comes to the point where there is not an easy pick, then they should have a game to figure it out. Even on a weeknight like we did on my daughters team in u16. We had to drive out to Mission on a Wednesday for a 7:30pm game to decide who went through.

    Maybe inconvenient, but fair.

This is why make up games are important. If you dont do you makeup game and you are 3 points behind in the end, then thats on you. If you opponent refuses the make up game its a forfeit.

Hopefully next year they can allow them again.

I've never understood this need to have huge divisions of 15+ teams when you only play 12-15 league games. Go with divisions of 8, 7 league games. Re-arrange divisions if teams are winning every game or losing every game. Create new divisions of 8 to play 7 more league games. Then have a cup based on combined records from the 14 games ranking the teams on pts/game ratio if teams have not played the same amount of games.

It seems quite easy to me - it's not like the old days when fields were scheduled and times announced first week of September. We don't know our game times until Wed-Thurs each week now anyway so changing opponents is no issue.

5 District has always enforced make-up games - if teams cancelled their game (field closure), and the opponent could get a field and ref that same game day but the original host team refused to go it was a forfeit. Everyone understood the rule. Make-up games happened all over the place. Often play Sat-Sun to finish the year. The kids loved it and they knew it was fair because things were determined on the field of play. Hard on the parents tho lol!

With the weather district cup games moved back 1 week to the 3-4th. Many districts wont have a champ prior to the weekend of the 9th-10th and wildcard games are supposed to be done by then? Sure will be interesting to see how they get this all done. Impossible to make a schedule until all this happens first.

    Just posted to BCCSL website

    February 23, 2018
Due to field closures making the league’s ability to play knockout games for the final four Coastal B wild card games very unlikely, the Board proposes to eliminate these games and allocate the four wildcard spots to the teams with the highest average points per game across all Gold 1 East and West, or combined East/West divisions from U13 to U18 once the Coastal B Cup District play down winners have been removed from consideration. Should teams have the same average points per game, the tiebreakers shall be head to head results followed by goal difference if the teams tied or did not play each other. If that is also tied the next tie breaker will be most goals scored and lastly a coin toss.

unreal. If this info was sent at the start of the year districts may have pushed to get their district cup games done earlier. What a mess. Feel for the teams who thought they had a chance to play in to only lost out (some by a decimal point or coin flip)

You can likely figure it out on your own as I don’t see anywhere where it’s posted. Heard the draw was delayed a week, think it’s happening in the next week. What age group and team are you ?

Your club will be notified. You can check the coastal cup web site as well - unless they changed the site this year?
