In each previous year we had been able to keep some of our points. Stay put no change. Move up get a reduction, Maybe 50 percent. Move down, points removed. Opponent move up or down result wiped. It has never been a clean slate.

Most groups were adjusted due to geography (which is not a good change in division 1) rather then performance. On top of this rule book states pre thanksgiving results would count in the post thanksgiving new groups

Breaking-up due to geography at D1 level makes perfect sense depending on how many teams are in the division.

If the league rule book says points carry over then I agree, they should carry over. My own league rule book (not BCCSL) says u11 needs ID cards, but when you ask the coordinators etc they say they aren't needed....so I wouldn't put too much into the rule book. Likely they are just taking a previous years book and changing the dates without reviewing all the content.

Odd I Remember back in u11/12 we had I'd cards, but then it was SMSA for that age group.

Per hervb's 2nd sentence, the Guide indicates post-break standings will be revised by next weekend. Is this how 4DSL/5DSL worked? The girls BCCGSL re-tiered standings work exactly like this, but no delay to 2nd weekend, perhaps a gotSoccer issue/learning curve thing.

It's possible they broke out that fine tooth comb and are working on relevant results. We do have Cup next weekend so they have time to sort it I guess. Not a lot of changes were made so Im not sure why it was wiped in the 1st place.

Regarding BCSA ID cards & documentation - my U16 daughter ref'ed a VYSA inter-locking (Vancouver-Burnaby-Richmond-Squamish-West Van) league U11 girls game yesterday. I checked their "Guide" this morning & saw BCSA ID player cards aren't needed (U11/U12 boys/girls) but team lists are (2 copies, 1 signed by ref to give to other team, ref keeps 1 copy).

The home team handed her 2 copies of their list (sample template was in the VYSA guide) but the visiting team did not have them. As this was her 1st U11 league game this season, this was new to her (and me) so I made a quick call to the club's head ref while they had started the game, and he indicated someone was being "overzealous" I'll do a followup to confirm, but I'm guessing the clubs/the VYSA interlocking league may have decided to waive the team list requirement.

Overzealous or not. It is important, even if it doesn't always have the desired effect. Too many borrowed players but no real way to identify them. But also standings aren't usually kept so maybe it's not too important? I always liked to see them.

It's funny to think it happening among younger, house league teams -- does anyone have experience playing against a "win at all costs" teams, i.e. who might try to stack their roster? Or maybe just a suspicion

I don't think either of my girl's (house) teams have played against a "stacked" team, and know their teams have had to "borrow" a player (i.e. a younger soccer sibling, or friend at same skill level) and typically to help with a chronically short bench...

It happened all the time in Newton. I wouldnt necessarily say win at all costs but in younger ages some times it's hard to get commitment so players are borrowed.

(at u11) Couldn't care less, personally, as a coach. Who the other team has is up to them. I assume the kids are all the right age. If they want to "bring in ringers" or whatever the case may be to win a game that doesn't keep a score they can go right ahead.

I did this in a tournament - u-11 I think one year. Brought two teams but only had about 9 players per team with kids coming and going for family stuff over that Thanksgiving weekend, so with tournament approval before the tournament began we had players on both teams from a couple games. A Newton team was very upset (lower tier players joined the higher team, and vice versa)

It's written right on the league homepage.

"The BCCSL Head Scheduler is working on getting the league cup organized and will provide more information on that.
First round of League Cup starts the weekend of October 20th, 21st & 22nd for U13-U18 – note that there are no league games scheduled for that weekend."

As for opponents should be today or tomorrow I would assume. There is a place for link on the top left. Keep an eye on that.

The games and standings are posted on www.4districtsoccer.com. Move down and click on schedules. I pointed it out years ago that rep or gold teams should play each other in both districts four and five finally it's here.
I went to see Burnaby Metro Selects and must say level of soccer is very low. For most coaches are screaming at kids during the practices. Kids will shot off after few weeks of that type of coaching. In my opinion changes must be forwarded to that program. Head of that group needs to spend more time watching the practices. Trying to seat on two chairs really does not work. South Burnaby club got a new Director from Delta. Screaming coaches will be gone. Soccer will be more fun. Rotty will taste better. Cheers one should not use black balls. Maple Ridge loves them.
