It says they will use gotsoccer, but will there be schedules and standings online? I'm not coaching this year, but it would be nice to follow old friends and teams from the past.

You will be able to see the standings. It was used during spring cascadia league and is very simple to use. In fact scores are uploaded immediately and do not take days to see.

Has anyone heard any inside information from their club regarding this upcoming weekend? I understand we may not get a schedule until tomorrow or Thursday but if we at least knew that it would be forthcoming that would be a help. Really doesn't help our parents get enamored with soccer when they can't plan anything for the Friday night or Saturday because they're waiting for a soccer schedule that may not even come.

If I was the parent I would plan my life as I see fit - if the schedulers can't get organized people's lives can't be on hold.

I hate to say it folks, but this merger, at present, is a total failure. God help us the day George passed away. The reality is, they should have taken their time and integrated this merger over a period of a year or 2. What was the hurry? Last year the kids got screwed because of the weather, totally understandable. This year the kids are getting screwed because of stupidity and ignorance and ego's!

Stupidity, because they didn't give themselves enough time to build a schedule.

Ignorance, because they don't have the kids and their families best interests at heart. Think about that one for a second....
because I coach gold (and it doesn't affect me) I have families with 2 gold players in their family. they could have 1 kid playing in Mission and another playing, say in Sechelt.
( hey don't get me wrong i like the idea of playing teams, we don't normally play. But I don't have any of my kids playing any more, I just coach. It's not about me, it's about the kids. Besides, that's what tournaments are for!)

Ego's, really folks, isn't this merger really about one thing? Let's build it bigger! Bigger is better! Well ask yourself this, is your team playing a league game this weekend? Well I haven't seen a schedule yet and it's Tuesday 1:40 pm and as I write this I just received an email asking if we are interested in playing a friendly! I know what my team is going to do. Can you say the same thing?

Cheers,
Ian

My club in the valley has not said or posted anything regarding the merger, the lack of scheduling, the new website, nothing. If it was not for this thread I would have no idea why any of this was happening.

I would not be surprised if this one instance with the extremely poor communication from(it sounds like) almost all clubs will result in a loss of many families from the sport.

The merger makes sense, if you think big picture. But, rushing it - totally typical sadly of soccer in BC (and Canada, it appears as a whole) - was the apparent hitch in this whole thing. Then to have Gold covering the entire region instead of sticking to geographical divisions - makes zero sense. Making kids drive further will NOT improve their experience, nor make them better players. Period. Leagues do not develop players.

Indeed - I have no recollection of any notification of anything including the merger nor scheduling issues. There was one note by the coordinator at our club there are "scheduling issues" that I saw. TBF to the club I don't coach u13+ so if they sent something I may not have seen it. Regardless, how could the merger announcement not be prominent on every clubs web page including all details of the merger?

Never mind the clubs what about the districts. V.Y.S.A. , Burnaby, Tri cities, North Van, Richmond.
None of them have said anything.

It's a disease, I swear.

This much delay or lack of information doesn't make any sense. If the only difference this year was at the gold level, how can there not be a competent person with the ability to make a schedule on time? And if there was a delay, then why not only at that level? How does it affect everyone else?

Now, I have another question, and correct me if I am wrong, but didn't I read it stated on here that those who ran the Cascadia league this past summer had also offered their expertise in setting up, or rather managing, the fall league as well? Is is possible that those participated were happy to the extent that they moved forward with the idea? Is e11even management helping shape the bccsl? With GR gone, a void was there. Seems like similar issues that Cascadia had. Anyway, just thinking out loud.

Haha - we got the same from our club.

For anyone coaching Burnaby District who hasn't heard - there is a backup plan in place again to provide exhibition games (like last weekend) for all teams if the league does not have their schedule sorted out in time, however the latest update is that it is looking more likely that there will be league games this weekend which would be announced one way or the other by the end of today.

So, this merging wasn't because everyone wanted to be friends. It is out of necessity. Tri-Cities left D5. Without them D5 was left with an insufficient amount of teams. D5 had to merge. Right now D4 is in charge as per BC Soccer, so if anything, the lack of information, such as results and standing, may be affected as is their Modus Operandi. Next year there should be elections.

As for GotSoccer, I was told they are in the states, Florida to be specific, and have been affected by the extreme weather (maybe underwater or sand right now), so there is a bit of understanding needed about the lack of proper scheduling I guess.

Who said D5 would have insufficient amount of teams? Tricities was a few good clubs, but there were plenty of clubs left to have good leagues. I doubt that's the reason. Did you get this in writing from one of the district chairs or BCSA?

Lol. Since when is anything written on this board put in writing from any league prior to being posted. Tri Cities was a huge part of d5. And if you follow the conversations on here you can follow the crumbs. But yes, I heard it from a person in the know and you can feel free to take is a rumor if you feel so fit.

Agreed. Looking at U13 div1 from last year the removal of Tri cities would have turned and 18 team league into a 13 team league . still more than enough, in fact if anything it would have created a more balanced schedule in that everyone could play once...would have saved $24 in tolls last year...

Good things they are removed this year!
TReO › Toll Removal

CMF is the kicker. This is a good quality club and its loss from D5 would have been very noticeable with 31 teams last year.

PCE 15 teams
PMO 14 teams
NCUS 5 Teams.

So 65 teams would have been gone from D5.

How much fun would it be to play in Newton all year long with only a couple outlier. Not much in my opinion.

Using U13 Div 1 from last 11 of the 15 teams not from Tricites played outside of Newton... seems playing in Newton would have been the outlier for that Division
