Dist 5 have not put in any effort to do anything & nothing was implemented or changed on Oct 31 to ensure teams are playing at their appropriate level !
BC Soccer Youth Development should have stepped in to sort out this mess.
Dist 5 Statement below is a joke where the U18 age group is concerned

The 5 District Board, working with the Clubs, endeavors to keep the Leagues balanced and the League Board reserves the right to withdraw league privileges from, or reallocate to a more appropriate playing level those teams whose league performance is such that they are misplaced in this league structure.
We strive to promote the game of soccer and help players enjoy the game and improve their skills. Placing teams where they can enjoy the game and be more competitive definitely helps us to achieve this. In order to make league Divisions as competitive as possible the District Clubs are asked to make every effort to ensure that their teams are placed at their most competitive level.

teams 3-12 are probably in the right division - although did the 10-11-12th teams get their wins against only the teams below them?
TKBC - formation of a Div 3 would have ensured more balanced competition with more chance of teams playing at their appropriate level. In Div 2 only teams 2 to 8 seem to be evenly matched .

Footy Quiz :
Subject - U18 Div 2 Standings
Spot the Strong Div 1 level team.
Spot the teams that should have been playing in a Div 3
Spot which teams are prob not having much fun in this their last year of youth soccer

View attachment 62

Teams 9-14 should stay in Div 2, drop the bottom 2 from Div 1 then move 1-8 in div 2 up to Div 1

13 teams in Div 1, 8 in Div 2. But I'm just going off the numbers as I have no clue what these teams have.

CanadianSpur , you coach in Div 2 and we all know Langley belong in Div 1 and would be challenging for 3rd place in that Division.
Would u agree that teams 2 - 8 are evenly matched ?

I make no apologies for highlighting the lack of effort made by Dist 5 to tier the Divisions properly.
I have watched lots of games in U18 this season in Div 1 , 2 & 4 & below is how the teams should have been or should be placed.
The coach of CCB Cobras has asked for his team to be moved up but it never happened.They can compete easily in Div 2 along with the other teams highlighted in Yellow .
Here,s Div 4 highlighted:
Yellow = Div 2
Blue = Div 3
Pink = Div 4 Genuine House level teams.DIV 4 DEC.JPG

Absolutely agree. Langley is a Div1 team and the coach knows it. The next few teams are are all evenly matched with good competition balance.

Dist 5 Statement below is a joke where the U18 age group is concerned

5 District is made up of hard working volunteers who do not deserves comments like this.
At U18 Boys Div 1 the bottom 2 teams have 3 points each. What responsibility do the club/coach bear?

At U13 I can understand clubs/coaches not knowing what division best suits their team but by U18 you think they would have figured this out.

LFC from your complaining I am assuming you are one of the weaker teams at U18. In previous posts you have stated you know this age group really well. Obviously you don't.

The JOKE is not 5 District but clubs/coaches who after playing U13, U14, U15, U16, and U17 still can't figure out where to place teams.

I have said prior to tiering that requests could be made to move up or down. I know of at least 2 teams in u16 that were moved at coaches request. I know LFC doesnt want to be in the 1st 6. Its obvious. He can go to his club and plead his case. If not they wont do anything. 2 years ago I coached a 98 born team that was put in a higher bracket at cup. They only won a single league game. I asked the club to drop them a group down prior to cup, after groupings were done, and the request was put in to the district and my team was moved down. Complaining on message boards falls on deaf ears.

I would argue that u18 is also a difficult age to assess tiers.

Very much so. There is so much change in your roster with players dropping out for school or work. Generally you see a lot of players moving up to fill the vacated spots so it hard to know where you stand st the beginning of the season.

You might call it complaining i would say its pointing out the facts and a lack of responsibility/effort to make tierring changes , create a Div 3 and distribute teams based on their appropriate level of play.
You must be one of those Dist 5 volunteers who you claim work so hard. We all volunteer and once you have taken responsibility for something you have to follow it through responsibly. There,s club /coaches who will enter their teams at their appropriate level, there,s some who will enter their team in a lower level just for the sake of winning & sometimes teams are entered in the appropriate level but due to losing 5-6 players in Aug /Sep the team suddenly becomes so weak and its too late to move the team to a lower level [ this is pretty common in Newton after Summer Soccer ends in Aug]
No matter for what reason teams are entered in a particular Division , its Dist 5 Leages responsibility to make changes to level out the Divisions by Oct 31.

I definately agree that D5 has dropped the ball in some regard. But you cant hide behind that. You need to speak for your team. Email your club. Talk to Garry. He helped me last time.

If you are losing 5-6 players in Aug/Sept you are obviously doing something wrong. Your club has 2 teams in Div 1 . Both are tied for last place. Common sense would have combined both teams and tiered players accordingly.

At the end of the day you are responsible for putting your team in the wrong division.

easoccer, you have mentioned that you coach or have been involved in Surrey summer soccer , so i trust that u would understand the unique situations we face in Newton, where brand new teams are formed after the Summer season during late Aug and even early Sept and if that means taking players from other teams so be it . I,m not highlighting Dist 5,s lack of action in tierring , for my teams sake as there,s 2 very strong teams in Div 1 and all the other 5 are all similar level and games between those 5 teams were fairly even.
The bigger problems of teams not been placed /tierred at their appropriate level is in Div 2 & Div 4 .
Its the coaches in these 2 Divisions whose teams havn,t won a game and are being demolished , who should be bringing these issues up , but most either don,t have knowledge of the game or just don,t make the effort to demand answers.

I have experienced it on several occasions. I understand the situation. All Im saying is if you feel overmatched then advocate for your team and try to get your teams concerns addressed.

SoccerMom, my whole life has been been spent being involved in Football [soccer] and i,m involved in this game i passionately love all year round. I can confidently say i have as much knowledge as anyone on the U18 [99 born age group ] - from BCSPL all the way down to Div 4 and teams from all areas - Surrey, Delta, Ladner, South Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Burnaby & Vancouver.

My team was placed in Div 1 which was the right decision up to mid Aug . Suddenly a newly formed club in Newton decides to form a U18 team and by whatever means takes 7 players from my team leaving me with 7 players . I struggled to replace those players and eventually added 7 players from Div 2 & Div 3 teams that had folded. By this time it was too late to move the team down to Div 2 .
I have no problem combining 2 teams but another problem in Surrey is no matter whether your team is struggling or barely enough players , they will not combine as summer soccer affiliations come into play.

I,m 100% not highlighting the lack of effort by Dist 5 for my team , its more for Div 2 & Div 4 . If u truly care that all players/teams should be playing at their appropriate level then u would understand.

Because the majority of teams were in div 4 last year. And thats where the majority registered this year. Div 3 did not have enough teams so they either moved to div 2 or dropped to div4.

CCB held tryouts for mostly all age groups free of charge [no fees to tryout ] .For our 99 born age group there were 3 tryouts followed by a friendly game. Only 18 players turned up but not a single player turned up from the other CCB Div 1 team or the Div 4 team.
After this 2 were younger and are playing U17 and another 2 from Delta preferred to play Div 2 with Delta.
14 players were selected and played Surrey summer soccer as a team from May to mid Aug . I gave the kids 2 weeks break and we would start training from Sep 1 .
On this day only 6-7 players turned up and after the session a parent informed me that a man called Rakesh Kumar was forming a new Div 1 team with BC Tigers , with a promise of challenging Metro teams and had pulled 4-5 players and also affected 2 others [including the goalie] from our team.
I spoke to one of the main Tigers guys but he wasn,t much help.
It seemed like i would need to pull the team out of the leage but with help from the CCB club i managed to get 10 players together and 2 x U15 players for our first game in Sep 10.
Hope those of you outside Newton/Surrey will understand a bit better now the problems we have to face.
