It was Pacific United who was denied by SMSA at U13 . BC Tigers, SGU, CCB and SFC were all granted teams some arguably weaker teams than PUFC. I am not going to get into guessing as to why or the details , there are enough issues with that as is.... Point was we need a way to get pass the politics for the benefit of the development of the kids... No one benefits form winning or losing a game 19-0

I know MSL wanted to have a maximum of 12 teams I believe. A few clubs were originally denied by MSL but appealled directly to BC Soccer and got in from what I heard through the grapevine.
The bottom teams after the U13 season as I understand it will not be included in U14 MSL for next season. I may be wrong but that's what I heard. I think the idea is to keep MSL teams competitive by having a smaller number of them. Just a guess.

Ya sorry - read the post wrong. Must have been distracted and read Poco not PUFC. Was dealing with a Coquitlam issue at work.

The way to deal with promotion/relegation/placement and avoid politics is to eliminate districts and district boards. Open everything up and put it under 1 umbrella but then regionalize leagues depending on level of play so as to eliminate needlessly long commutes.

And that would be the right choice. 12 teams should be max for MSL.

U16 boys added 2 Metro teams this season. A second BDMS as well as a BC Ttigers team and now there are 14 teams in this age group. This is the fourth year of Metro for this age and 4 of the clubs are hard pressed to have 10 to 12 wins combined over the 4 years. This is for each team not all of the teams combined. My point is that they really need to fix "qualification" in Metro Select as these 4 club teams do not belong and the records prove it. I was affiliated with one of these teams for the first 3 years and after years 1 and 2 I told the board that we did not belong but I was not listened too.

So I was told its up to the clubs to complain. There is no one out there deciding it for us. Apparently no committe reviewing results.

Either a teams needs to request a promotion or demotion. You can complain and hope for a review but chances are slim.

I contacted Dist 5 in mid Oct and was informed that they were working on the tiering which would be completed by Oct 31 . I offered to help out with the boys U17 & U18 Divisions but didn,t get any response to that.
At the very least they should def have a Div 3 & Div 4 in some of the age groups.

Dist 5 failed to tier the divisions to make for balanced play - teams playing at their appropriate level. Anyone have any news on the Championship Series which normally starts in Jan ? U18 Div 1 only has 7 teams ,while Div 2 has 14 teams .
IMHO - There are 3-4 Div 1 level teams playing in Div 2 and they should be moved up in the Championship series to take the top Div to 10 teams.

The "championship series" as you call it breaks groups down to 6 and does so purely on standings (the first year there was some leeway in this but not since, not from what I've seen/recall anyway). So those 3-4 div 1 teams in div 2 should beat the 7th place div 1 team. But those 3-4 div 2 teams of div 1 quality won't be paired with the top 1-6 of the current div 1.

FYI - mid-table Chwk u18 div 1 beat Langley div 2 in the district final.

Thanks for the info , so its gonna be same as before , the top 6 teams in Div 1 will go in group A and the top 5 in Div 2 will go in group B with the 7th place Div 1 team.
I was hoping they would move 3 teams up to make group A into 10 teams.

Chwk U18 are a good team - beat us 4-3 this season in a very exciting game

Yes, they have some very nice players.

The past few seasons have gone strictly on rank from 1-6 in Div 1 and so on. I assume this year is the same.

Why would they make group A 10 teams? The league cup or "championship series" is only 5 round robin games.

Last year at the U17 (99s) there were 14 teams in Div 1, and for the League cup they moved the Langley Div 2 up into the 2nd group of 6 as well as the the top team from u16 (2000s).... jumping over the bottom 4 of the Div 1 teams??? they always bump up to fill out groups, but to promote them above the other u17 teams in Div 1 seemed unusual. Not sure what they will do this year, but probably just take top 6, and the lowest ranked team will drop down into the 2nd group. That being said, the top 2 div 2 teams could compete with the top 6 in Div 1.
and where did all the Surrey Div 1 players go... last year at U17, there were 10 Surrey teams in Div 1, now 2 of the 4 teams don't have enough players to make a game...

The first year of the 6-team league cup groups they also had teams just levels, and other years there was no movement. Typical of our local leagues to make it up as they go.

U18 Div 1 only has 7 teams with the top 2 being Metro level teams . CMF had the strongest Metro team in U17 [1999 born] & their Div 1 team [1999 born] was the strongest as well - both teams reached Provincials...
For some reason CMF don,t have a U18 Metro [1999 born] team this season so most of last years Metro team are playing for the Div 1 CMF Apollo .

The top 2 U18 teams are too strong for the other 5 Div 1 teams . Langley UTD U18 in Div 2 would be the 3rd best team in Div 1 but instead they are demolishing all the teams in Div 2 .
They don,t have a Metro team but def have 3-4 Metro level players and rest Div 1 level.
This team should have been moved up to Div 1 by Dist 5 during the season.
Now Langley UTD should be added to group A with the top 5 Div 1 teams for the Championship series starting in Jan.
The bottom 2 Div 1 teams should be added to group B with 4 of the other Div 2 teams.

Langley u18 div 2 lost to Chilliwack div 1 in the district final. I can assure you Chwk also has metro-level players. Would that Langley team be strong in Div 1? Probably! Yes, it appears they should have been moved-up.

Some of them are still on the Div 1 team , some may have moved to WCA , moved down to the CMF Div 2 & PCE Euro Div 2 teams.

But signing all those strong CMF players would surely make those 3 teams div 1 level as well?

Chiiliwack & Langley would both easily be competing for the 3rd/4th spot in U18 Div 1.
CHWK Div 1 team is a talented team made up of 2000 born & 1999 born players. There are def 2-3 Metro level players in the older group like Wilkinson & Davis . If they had a U17 Metro team then there,s around 5-6 players from the younger group who are easily that level.

Well i watch almost all the games in Dist 5 U18 from Div 1 to Div 4 - WCA are in Div 1 and CMF Madrid & PCE River Plate should also have been in Div 1 . All these Div 2 teams should have been in Div 1 this season.
