What does "Score Conflict"
mean?
Answer
1: Each of the 11 leagues has their own scheduler. If their schedules are not sent to us in a format we can use, they cannot be uploaded. Each league also has their own statistician.
Answer 2: After your weekend game, it is up to your coach to call your score (win or lose) to their Divisional co-ordinator. That co-ordinator then calls their club scorekeeper who compiles all the club scores. The club scorekeeper then emails, phones, or faxes the score list to the District scorekeeper. The District Scorekeeper then has to assemble all the different clubs scores into a file in the Soccer Score Sheet program. Once done, that file is email to BC Soccer Central to be turn into web pages. Ideally, all scores should be in the hands of the clubs scorekeepers by 6 PM Sunday night. As you can see this takes a bit of time, and
you should remember that almost all scorekeepers have spouses, children, jobs and every now and then they need to try to sneak in a bit of a life, outside of soccer. Patience is a good thing.
Answer 3: Do not email BC Soccer Central. We do not make changes to other peoples work. You need to have your coach resubmit the correct score through the proper channels talked about in question 2. The District scorekeeper will make the change in their program and when they email us the next weeks score, the correction should be in it.
Answer 4: NP is the Soccer Score Sheet programs way of saying Not Played. If you played your game, it is possible that your score was not passed on in a timely manner and it was not received by the time the scorekeeper was ready to send on their scores to the next level. Most club scorekeepers want the scores in by 6 PM Sunday night.
Answer 5: You don't. In August all divisions must submit team names, fields and times of games to the schedulers so that the schedules can be compiled, checked for conflicts, printed and distributed before the start of the season. All districts are informed about each leagues cut-off dates. Sometimes temporary names are sent to the scheduler to indicate that the club is entering a team in a particular division to get things started, but then changes are not sent in to the scheduler before the schedule is
built and distributed.
Once the schedule has been distributed, that information is used by a
great number of people from the Field Coordinators, Referee Schedulers,
Statisticians, Coaches, Discipline Coordinators, Parents, Players, and
even Grandparents and other family members, and anyone else who has
access to the schedules and if
changes were allowed, it would cause all kinds of confusion to all those
people.
Answer 6: To prevent these things from happening, both coaches must call their score in. That way, if there is a
discrepancy, it can be checked out immediately. If only one team calls in the score and the scorekeeper accidentally reverses it, the District Scorekeeper has no way of knowing it is incorrect. Please have your coach contact your coordinator and report the mistake.
Answer
7: When you get to your divisional standings page, each team in your division is linked to their own
page that shows their seasons history of scores. Just click on the team name you are interested in.

Answer
9: Each
time we upload the new standings files, the position of the teams change
due to the points they receive after each game. If your browser is
not set to check for automatic updates, or your cache is getting full,
your browser will display the page it has in its memory, which will be a
week old. Change your browser setting or hit your
"refresh" or "reload" on your browser tool
bar.
Answer 10:
When I put in a
"score conflict" it means that the 2 scores sent in from each club are
wildly different. In this case, both scorekeepers were claiming a 6 to
1 win for their own team. Obviously, one of the scorekeepers transposed
the numbers. Not the first time and won't be the last. I usually have
4 to 10 such mistakes every week to look into. Not wanting to make
other teams wait for the score posting, I put in "Score Conflict" to be
checked out later in the evening or the next day.
