WILD CARD UPDATE (to get into Coastal B Cup)
The BCCSL Scheduling Secretary will do a schedule whereby the East and West Gold One divisions are combined into one. The 8 Coastal Cup District winners are removed.
The...
I agree, not all divisions at the smaller clubs are the same but by your logic if last years u14 gold1 teams were playing at a silver level, how much fun would that really be? Wesburn lost one game all year and beat Metro teams at the Surrey Mayors Cup, South Burnaby lost only a couple and both...
Totally disagree with this, have know idea who you are and who you know but in my kids age group, the last three years the so called smaller clubs you mentioned consistently finished in the top three/four in their divisions, to the point that both South Burnaby and Wesburn were both at the...
We've been lucky, two home games and a bye. Depending how the re-tiering goes, we could end going out to Mission and Abbotsford from Burnaby but looks like we won't get Chilliwack.
When my son tried out for fusion two years ago they did a mass tryout but instead of 60 kids scrimmaging for an hour and a half they split the kids up into to groups of roughly 6-8 or so and had 5-6 different stations that they ran through. They had things like fitness where they were timed...
It's not much different than hockey, kids slip through the rep, major midget and junior a and b cracks all the time. Andrew Ladd and Shea Webber are both examples. Both were released by junior a/b coaches at different times in their lives and now both have had successful NHL careers.
Coaches...
From what I've heard, the schedule that was posted is not completely correct and will most likely completely change. We've been told for the first 2-3 weeks it will be a week by week notification and that's it. As far as travel goes, it could be worse, way worse. When I coached hockey we'd have...
Same as the team that won provincials at u14 last year. Looks like the group B is a much tougher group than group A though so not sure on the A/B thing.
Yes, plus I had heard it from another parent that was on our team last year who was on the executive.
Seems strange there was nothing on the website or even their facebook page but pretty the norm with all things BC Soccer.
Not really sure when this was all decided but we didn't hear anything...
All very good points but as far as your first paragraph goes, I don't completely agree with that. I googled all the coaches he had at Fusion and Whitecaps and sure, most had some sort of high level, college or professional playing or coaching experience. But one at fusion and two at the...
Field availability might be an issue but in my opinion, the big reason is the cost. From experience, most kids, especially at the young age, play soccer because it's affordable and you're not getting up at 6 am like hockey. And to be honest, my kid has done both the Whitecaps and Fusion...
Wesburn U14 Div 1 lost their first game of the season in all competitions to a very good South Burnaby team, 0-2. Was a very good game but South Burnaby scored on their chances and we didn't.
I totally agree. While it should be geared more to development, the kids still talk about the wins and who scored, etc.
You may not need to do it in their regular season, a tournament is the perfect place for it.
Had a great weekend at the Richmond tournament. The Wesburn U14 gold 1 won their bracket against some good teams from Surrey Pegasus, Coastal FC and Kamloops Blaze. Was a good, well run tournament.
