I think that for those divisions lower than div 1, it would have been nice to have at least a 2-4 league games out of our geographical group. Maybe even just to the area adjacent. Since we are one big district now anyway. Other wise what was the point? Cant be just for div 1's sake.

Thoughts?

Confirmed.

All U13-U18 boys games will start Sept 16/17.

Rather a week delay and get it right, then rush and get it wrong, I guess.

It is pretty frustrating when the problem appear to be self-inflicted by approving and leaving a pretty large scale consolidation of Lower Mainland youth soccer so late. Last year the problems were entirely out of control, but this current situation just looks to be a case of trying to accomplish too much too quickly over the summer.

Burnaby District have created a schedule for this weekend, which is great so even though there are no league games most of the kids will still be getting a start to their soccer seasons. Not sure if the other districts are following suit.

My club's admin advised me today that it's only Bronze (Div 3?) that's going to be geographically tied, if you will. So, there may well be sufficient degree of travel for just about everyone.

Silver and Bronze are going to be geographically tiered per the 2017-18 guide which is available here:

"U-13 to U-18 Gold teams will be scheduled to play with the eight (8) districts. U-13 to U-18 teams in levels below Gold will be scheduled to play geographically."

Define geographically... has a different for someone in Squamish versus someone in Surrey. I would guess more like within your district.. Either way the theory makes since, there are more Silver and Bronze teams than Gold teams , especially with cup play being tied in.

lol not sure if this is confirmed fact but just received a note the BC Coastal League is pushed back 1 week due to scheduling issues. Shock. Regionalize it folks. Get the divisions organized by geography for all tiers bronze-silver-gold.

Glad I coach u11...

In Maple Ridge they aren't starting the U10 and under group until the weekend of the 23rd. That's two good weekends lost in a club that is doing internal scheduling. It's like they forgot how many games/practices they lost last year to snow. With clubs paying everybody now (I'm that old I remember when people volunteered to do these jobs) you'd think they could do a better job of organizing this stuff.

Just out of interest, has anyone's club posted anything online or sent emails informing club members / parents re the 4D & 5D merger into BCCSL?

North Van FC has it posted on it's website.

Also An email went out today to managers and coaches of U13-U18 teams metioning that the schedule is taking longer than planned due to growing pains with the new merger. In house schedules are also being made for games to be played this weekend and should be available by tomorrow.

I'll mention that a quick scan of the Burnaby District clubs (excluding Burnaby Girls SC (my kids' club) as they are not affected): Of the other 4 clubs: Wesburn, Royal City (RCYSC), Cliff Avenue United (CAU), and South Burnaby Metro Club (SBMC) -- only SBMC mentions BCCSL on the home page, and it's a pointer to the new guide... I have no idea if the other clubs emailed info to their member families, but I'll ask one parent tonite who has a son at Wesburn if they had any inkling :)

Good to hear. The Wesburn parent/coach whose daughter & mine are BGSC teammates was at his son's practice last evening so I wasn't able to chat with him. So perhaps info about BCCSL was passed only word of mouth amongst Wesburn members, since there is nothing on the club's website...

My son is at Wesburn, we've known for a while about the merger.

Yes, plus I had heard it from another parent that was on our team last year who was on the executive.
Seems strange there was nothing on the website or even their facebook page but pretty the norm with all things BC Soccer.
Not really sure when this was all decided but we didn't hear anything at all about it at provincials this year and there was BC Soccer people there all week.

Nothing on the VUFC or Richmond websites as far as I can tell -- unless it's buried somewhere.

Seeing as the district 4 website has been converted I think that group has the most info. And the website was up for sevetal weeks now.

D5 is more in the dark. But if you are like me and curious by nature I'm sure you would have asked your club why the sites have changed, etc. And found out that way.

I'd wager that at least half of my club's members have never been to the (former) 4D website in their lives. While you're right that those curious enough to ferret out information probably know the score by now, I'm sure the various club admins are absolutely delighted to be answering the same inquiry a couple dozen times a day.

I would think mostly coaches or managers would be interested and would have at least looked for prelim schedules. Parents usually just show up. If club staff get irritated they could send out a bulletin.

Even with the South Fraser district merger last year it's not really that interesting news outside of a few diehards.

I find it fascinating the wall of silence coming from the BCCSL. West Van and NVFC have scheduled intra-club games this weekend to make up for a lack of schedule. Some inner whispering I heard was that this screw up was on Gotsoccer end and their software didn't produce an acceptable schedule (the play home/away portion in each group?) and it had to be re-done.
