@LFC

Hey LFC , heard from my Abbotsford buddies that USSL is getting sanctioned and that CCB is bringing all their teams and also a delta club.

Is that true?

Shocking. So a league applies for sanctioning yet the board is unaware. Wow.

Yes. And from what I heard its sanctioned by bcsoccer.

so now there are basically two competing leagues running in Surrey? I hope ppl realize they can't play in two sanctioned leagues at once. Can promise you some won't know and watch the chaos ensue.

There haven't been any updates about the 2 leagues in Surrey - Cascadia and USSL. What are the deadlines for both leagues? And can teams enter after the deadline? Please post any updated website links for both leagues.

I can't speak for USSL as I'm not sure their deadlines and registration process, but Cascadia information can be found here: www.cascadiasoccer.com

The final schedule will be out on April 15, after which point a team can register only if a BYE exists in a division. There are a few such cases.

I don't believe there are teams who are in both Cascadia and the USSL, although it's hard to confirm players. We have been very clear about this, as much from a functional level (schedule conflict, player burnout) as a BC Soccer rule.

In the end if the USSL is sanctioned and both leagues are successful and serve players, that should be all that matters. There are choices for people to play in. That's a good thing.

Indeed as both are now sanctioned the BCSA will not allow dual registration of players. Keep an eye out. Year 1 may have some bumps (duh). Good luck and enjoy! :)

The majority of clubs participating in the Cascadia league would have not been historical USSL participants.

We do have a small number of our 400 teams, from clubs who do participate in the USSL and believe those clubs have thought about it and spoken to their coaches to make a decision on one, over the other.

The reality is that while mistakes sometimes happen, there is no competitive implication. I other words, no Coastal Cup, Provincials, etc... I believe that both leagues in the spring are about keeping kids playing and participating, so not motivation to try and play outside the rules as their is no benefit. It's just games, for fun, hopefully in the better weather :) hopefully....

USSL starts this Sun April 30 until Aug 1 , for Boys & Girls from U5 to U13 .
The Surrey Summer Tournaments start on May 7 and continue until Aug 1 - from U12 to Open.

Looking forward to it.

Coaching 3 of my kids this summer. u5 and u8 tomorrow, u16 next weekend. Proud to say that I will have officially coached all 5 of my kids now.

Was strongly considering Cascadia, was even about to enter, but the 8v8 for my level was not appropriate. Plus I think 10 games makes more sense than 8. With 17 kids there would not be adequate playing time.

Cascadia plays 8v8 in u5 and u8?

U16. Lower Silver/Bronze is 8v8. I was not going to enter to play high Silver/Gold. Yes in the tournament league I will probably play a gold team here and there but the Silver teams are usually closer to my level.
