Why do we put our kids through this?

Should the south coast youth soccer season be from September to March?

I am sure they would love your help. Eager to hear what club you are volunteering for next season.
Your club, even if its just for a few days , so i can change the old boys , do gooders , reluctant for change , sticking up for schedulers network. Its all about the young players and what we can do to increase their enjoyment of the game universally known as Football.

City of Surrey was showing all turfs closed yesterday afternoon around 3pm . Clubs should have added the fields closed /all weekend games cancelled on their websites. Takes only a few mins .
No do gooder excuses like many make on here " they are volunteers" .
If u are not capable of doing this or can,t be bothered then step down.

First priority should be common sense. Then an email or text from the club. If none of these apply any coach can check field status.

But I do agree, websites should be kept up to date. This is a problem for many clubs.

Currently there are updates at the start of season, then all further through email. What this doesnt do is update parents and players if coaches dont forward the message in time.

southsloper , when we have weather like this in this modern age of computers/smart phones , parents /players first reaction is to go online and check the soccer clubs website for updates :)

If by "check their soccer club website" you mean "check their email or text" then you are correct.

Umm, look at the window, snow on ground - probably means field closed. Check city field conditions they are updated daily.
If a turf gets plowed I am sure you would know.
Does your mommy still spoon feed you?

We need to remember there are new coaches every year. I know when I started I had no idea where to get any info at all. Its nice if the club site has current information.

Part of the problem is the club system as it exists resembles the Wild West. Every man for himself. I remember when my kids were starting out it took me the better part of a day to figure out what our local club was. For the first couple of seasons I'd learn about other clubs in the same neighbourhood only by making small talk with parents. Too many small clubs replicating the same services.

Sounds like one of the reasons there were merger's in Vancouver.

That's a bit harsh and to be frank,

What do you have against Frank? Shirley you're joking!
