I can't remember a year when we haven't lost games due to bad weather. This has been the most extreme, but every november-december it get's too cold to play. I wonder how many 5 year olds we've lost this year.

You are lucky. Have lost plenty of games in plenty of years due to extreme weather in Chilliwack.

The year before there were several weekends where the grounds were too frozen to play. Usually it only affected teams expected to play before 12-1pm.
I will say that I have never experienced a span of 2-3 months where games are regularly cancelled like this year. My sons u18 team has 6 games on record. No games made up. They played the 3 top teams and are now in the very bottom division for cup. They are a much better team than they had a chance to show.

Anyway. There is so much ice on the fields in Surrey it will take a lot of rain and/or really warm temps to get us playing any time soon.

In my 10 -11 years since moving here from England , this has been the worst winter in terms of fields being closed. The snow has always melted away pretty quick in the past .
All the fields @ Newton Athletic Park are covered in a very thick covering of ice/snow .IMG_3801.JPG IMG_7839.JPG IMG_7847.JPG thick covering of ice/snow .

We get these types of issues about every 10-15ish years - except in 96 and 98! (way more snow those years than this). A couple years ago it was brutal cold but not snow as much.

I've had games cancelled due to snow, rain, frozen fields . I can't recall there ever being a period were I couldn't even get a training session in for 6 straight weeks. This is unusual to say the least.

Good news it looks to warm up the after this weekend

4d cancelled all weekends games. Maybe my initial restart quote of Jan 28 might be true. Though I think next Saturday will be the weekend with all the rain coming. Question is how many fields will be flooded?

SFC set up some futsal at BC Prep for us this Saturday. Looking forward to getting out there.

But.......this fun game is against our arch rivals. Lol.

SSAP is closed all weekend. Richmond is still closed as well (no snow, but frozen turf).

Ladner and Tsawwassen's turf fields are open. All the grass is closed, as it's mostly frozen solid.
