So how did everyone make out this weekend?

Lots of rain coming down, did games even get played?

Had our 3 round district cup game rained out in North Van, giant puddles down the middle of the field at William Griffin turf.

Played out at Mackie Turf. That turf is due to be replaced this spring, luckily. It's like the old carpet at BC Place:)
Rained hard for part of the game...but the weird part was the fog that rolled in for about 10-15 minutes. I could barely make out the keeper at the far end of the pitch. Thought the ref might call the game, but it left as quickly as it showed up.

Played a scrambly match, and paid for it. Looked like pre-season. Back to the drawing board!

U16 boys. Pouring rain. Swamp of a field. Im surprised they let us play. Missing linesman. Missing ID cards. Call ups missing from opposing team list. Chippy game. Opposing coach basically telling ref which calls to make. MEH.

U18 rained out. Played 6 out of 10 games. No idea how we can make those up.

On another note my u8 daughter is starting to score again. I was concerned last year about her laid back coach, even though she had success, so I tried in newton over the summer. She dropped off quite a bit. So, I've basically found she plays better under this environment than a more serious coach. Go figure.

U16 Boys loss 0-4 to Langley. Score not indicative, if we switched goalies would have been 6-0 for Chwk. First time all season with full lineup. First 6 weeks were missing top 4 players so now hitting stride. I figure we attempted 25 shots to Langley's 3. Yes 3 shots but 4 goals. Goalie kicked one off of defender and into our own net. Langley goalie was very good and held them in it. Possession was probably 70 > 30. This was Langley's second game against a team in the top 6 of the division the other was a loss. I think this is an example of a easy schedule more than a great Langley team. Having never seen them before I thought for sure they should have been promoted but now I think this is the correct division

Sorry Krutov, but I couldnt disagree more.

Im glad you feel that you had a decent game against them, but the overall picture shows otherwise.

This LUS team is not a DIV 2 other than by being in DIV 2.

And I would take offense to saying they had an easy schedule as many of the teams have similar records to your own. Some who may also have had missing players for whatever reason.

Fair enough EA but if that is my opinion and if they were in Div1 I do not think they would be doing very well.

I did not see any type of structure to their game and no individuals stood out other than their goalie and maybe a centre back.

I have been reading the posts from the U16 coaches and you guys obviously have alot of knowledge about that age group and its obvious that Langley & WCA are the 2 strongest teams in Div 2 .
Very rough weather as well , lots of games postponed

Its possible they had an off game. We played a provincial finalist team (kil phoenix) and lost 4-0. We also played the smsa div 1 team at the top of the standings a lost 4-0. This was in june or july. I can tell you without a doubt the LUSA team is equally strong to both.

Even we had a couple off games. Usually we are in a low scoring game within a goal but there they are 2 games out of character.

This team also played LUSA that HerbV coaches and I think they did just as well against them. That team is mid pack DIV 1.

They did suffer poorly in the sx cup though.

Anyway we will find out soon as they will most likely slot into the middle of div 1 teams at cup time.

We had a heart breaker in our district cup final on Sunday. We played our fellow Langley Div 1 team who is near the top of the table. We were the first to every ball, controlled most of the play but lost 1-0. First 20 minutes we couldn't put one in one any of our numerous chances, and of course they scored on there first attempt at goal (perfect shot form 30 yards out that likely was the type of goal you couldn't repeat with 20 more tries.) We fought hard after going 1 down but just couldn't make it happen. All in all a fantastic performance considering we have been having some consistency challenges and injury issues over the past month, and I couldnt be prouder of the boys. It was also one of the cleanest most respectful games we have had all season.

As for the Div 2 langley team, hard to say for sure but I believe they could compete at the Div 1 level. We did beat them the last time we played by a 4-1 margin but the also did well in our district cup play and gave the other Langley team a good run in the semi finals. If they are able to stick together I am sure they will move up next season.

Played out in Surrey, were lucky it was turf even though the rain let up for the most part. Our u12 Div 2a team had only 8 players show up. Had a hard fought 2 to 1 win against the Tigers. Surrey put up a good show, but for having 5 subs I feel our boys did very well, and carried the play most of the time. A GREAT goal from our defense in the final minute sealed the deal.
