1,637 team scores are put up on BC Soccer Central every week. Every club has their own scorekeeper who passes them on to the general Statistician who collates them all and makes them web-ready. Both teams must report their scores so the number of scores coming in is doubled. Each week there can be from 35 to 60 score differences, for example:

One club sent in:
Sep 30 - 07 U19 Gold DDS Willows 3 SST Toads 1

The other club sent in:
Sep 30 - 07 U19 Gold DDS Willows 4 SST Toads 1

As you can tell by the sheer volume of scores, calling each coach to get the true score would take a few weeks. Policy is to take the score sent in by the first club that arrives in my email Sunday night. I have received many emails from coaches demanding the scores be changed each week. BCSC can only accept scores from appointed scorekeepers, not coaches. I realize that the children want the true score posted and I have a solution to that. After each game, when you shake hands with the opposing coach, agree then what the final score you will send in to your scorekeeper, or if both are in disagreement, ask the Ref for his decision. This will prevent a lot of the score discrepancies I have been receiving, making the kids and me very happy.
