The 5 District Gold
& Silver Soccer League Board is pleased to be providing a
Conference Cup for the 2007-2008 season. We have
determined that the majority of participants in the 5 District
Gold & Silver are in favour of a format which guarantees
each team a minimum three games of Cup play. These games are
scheduled to occur at intervals throughout the regular season of
play, using the usual home field allocations for the
participating teams.
The Conference Cup Finals will be scheduled by the 5 District
Gold & Silver League Board, times and location to be
announced.
Rules of Play for Conference Cup
The rules of play for the Conference Cup games follow the
General Rules outlined in the Guidelines for 5 District Gold
& Silver Soccer League. These can be accessed in their
entirety at “bcsoccercentral.com” using the link to 5
District Gold & Silver Guidelines.
The 5 District Gold & Silver League plays under the
guidelines established by the BCSA and is subject to the
operating rules of that body and any disciplinary action
resulting from Conference Cup play will comply with those
guidelines.
Rules for Score Reporting for Conference Cup
Round Robin portion of playoffs – all games will end in
regulation time, regardless of the score.
Games CAN
end in a tie in the round robin portion of play.
In quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, if the game
is tied at end of regulation time, overtime will be played as
follows: after a five minute break, U12 to U15 teams will play
20 minutes of overtime & U16 to U18 will play 30 minutes
overtime - half from one end, then half from the other end with
no break in-between. The overtime period will be played in its
entirety. There is NO sudden
death. If the tie stands after the OT
play then a shoot-out will occur to determine the winner of the
game. Three points are awarded to the winning team
for each game. One point is awarded for a tie.
The Group winners
will be determined as follows:
- Most points in group
- If tied, head to head result.
- In those groups where no head to head game
has been played, a play-off game may be scheduled to
determine the group winner.
- Still tied? In those groups where
number 2 is applicable goals against statistics will be
counted to determine the group winner.
Game scores for all
Conference Cup games are to be reported to each club/district
scorekeeper or statistician using the regular score reporting
system for each team/club. Each game must be identified as
Conference Cup, to avoid confusion with the regular season.
There will be one Final Game for each age and level of play.
(i.e. there will be one final game for U12 Silver, one for U12
Gold etc.)The Final games in each age/level of play will use
recognized FIFA overtime rules to determine an overall winner.
Good luck to all our participating teams and we sincerely hope
you enjoy your Conference Cup experience for 2007-2008.
